Dan Driscoll will join OpenAI as Senior Counsellor for National Security Modernisation, following his position as Secretary of the US Army, which ends in September 2026. According to OpenAI, Driscoll will work with senior leadership and external partners to advise on how advanced AI can strengthen national and cyber security, with a particular focus on working with US allies to advance its responsible use, and will help internal teams understand the operational needs of global national security institutions. OpenAI CEO Sam Altman said AI should give people more power over their lives and people should have a say in how it is developed, adding that the US has an extraordinary opportunity to work with other countries to spread the adoption of democratic AI. Driscoll said national security requirements are changing faster than at any time in the past fifty years and that the technology will help keep pace by cutting through paperwork, making sense of more information, and getting the right answer to the right person faster. Separately, Eptura announced the appointment of Nuala Larkin as its first Chief AI Officer; Larkin moves from SVP, Global Customer Support, CX Operations & Hardware at Eptura and will lead the companywide AI strategy, focusing on simplifying work, increasing productivity and improving employee and customer experiences.
