The GATE Institute at Sofia University, in partnership with Google DeepMind, is offering two fully funded AI Master’s Scholarships for the 2026–2027 academic year. The scholarships support talented students pursuing Master’s studies in artificial intelligence and related fields. Eligible applicants must be ordinarily resident in Bulgaria or another EU Member State, hold a Bachelor’s degree with a minimum overall grade of 4.50, have a candidate-student examination success rate of at least 4.50, be admitted to an eligible Master’s programme at the Faculty of Mathematics and Informatics (Artificial Intelligence, Information Retrieval & Knowledge Discovery, or Big Data Technologies), and meet financial eligibility criteria where household income per member must be below Bulgaria’s minimum salary level as of 1 January 2026. Applications are reviewed by professors and GATE Institute representatives based on eligibility, academic performance, motivation letter, CV, and financial eligibility. The final decision for two scholars and one waitlist candidate will be made by 31 October 2026. Each scholarship provides comprehensive support worth USD 28,695.06 over 18 months, covering full tuition fees, housing and living costs, academic travel, equipment expenses, relocation support, and access to AI-related academic conferences. The application deadline is 9 October 2026.
