Dr. Jefferson S. Seneadza, a specialist in Information Systems and AI, challenged Ghanaian journalists to master the “art of asking better questions” during a session titled “Prompt Engineering for Journalists” for the 2026/27 AEMF cohort. He stated that Artificial Intelligence functions best as a “digital writing collaborator” requiring precise human guidance. Dr. Seneadza, who holds a PhD in Information System at the University of Ghana Business School and serves as CEO of Ayatickets and aftownmusic, used a newsroom analogy to explain technology layers, describing AI as the entire newsroom system, Machine Learning as the team of journalists, Deep Learning as the experienced editor, Generative AI as the creative department, and Large Language Models like ChatGPT, Gemini, and Claude as “language experts.” He introduced the four-part “CICO” Framework for prompt engineering: Context & Background, Instructions, Constraints & Details, and Desired Output. Dr. Seneadza warned journalists about common prompt mistakes, such as being too vague or overloading a single prompt.
