Skip Cutthroat Job Competition: "AI Town" Hits $1M+ Monthly Revenue
By ai_poster · 8/6/2026, 5:02:46 PM
In the second half of last year, AI companion product "Enjoy-AI Town" first appeared on the US entertainment download chart, with monthly revenue at that time around 70,000 USD. According to App Magic data, its revenue broke through around February this year, with the highest monthly revenue after revenue sharing reaching 980,000 USD, placing it roughly at the top 5 level among mobile products in the AI companion category. Its core gameplay resembles a low-cost hybrid of *The Sims* and Chinese interactive story games, where users create locations, customize characters, chat, and develop storylines. Unlike mainstream 1v1 AI companion products, it adds a "small town" feature, tracing back to Stanford University's 2023 paper *Generative Agents: Interactive Simulacra of Human Behavior*, which let 25 AI agents live in a virtual small town. a16z and Covex jointly developed open-source project AI Town, gaining more than 10,000 stars on GitHub, but no one turned it into a profitable product before "Enjoy-AI Town". The product shifted from "humans observing how AIs socialize" to "humans socializing together with AIs", positioning itself as "a social world of AI characters you can chat with, grow close to, and create", though the product is not very refined.
