Rockland Federal Credit Union, a $3.7-billion institution in Massachusetts that will become Arise Financial on Aug. 1, deployed AI in its back office to eliminate repetitive work, improve compliance, and create capacity for growth without adding staff. Partnering with Kintera AI, the credit union reduced per-file review time from roughly 20 minutes to just two minutes and increased quality control coverage from 15% to 100% for its indirect auto lending operation. The implementation took 10 days. Chief Lending Officer David Cedrone estimated the project delivers approximately $250,000 in annual savings from this single workflow. When the project began, Rockland was funding approximately 100 indirect auto loans daily; today that figure has climbed to roughly 283 loans—about $3.5 million in daily lending volume—without increasing headcount. The credit union is now expanding the technology beyond indirect auto lending into mortgages and other operational areas. Cedrone emphasized the objective was not workforce consolidation but scaling the business with technology, and he recommended other credit unions not redesign their institution around AI.
