Tesla’s 2026 Summer Update, software version 2026.26.6.5, rolled out in late August and gave Grok direct control of vehicle hardware, allowing commands such as folding mirrors, adjusting wipers and lowering cabin temperature in one sentence without a screen tap. In a community test reported by Drive Tesla Canada, a driver posting as LifeMiddie ran 170 distinct spoken commands and Grok executed 116 without a screen tap, a 68 percent hit rate. The controls include cabin temperature, fan speed and airflow, A/C and recirculation, mirrors, wiper speed, glovebox, seat heaters, Dog Mode, Camp Mode, Bioweapon Defense Mode, Supercharger or restaurant search, toll or ferry routing, Dashcam clips and Sentry Mode. Tesla swapped in Grok Voice Think Fast 2.0, which Not a Tesla App reported runs with roughly 0.70 seconds of response latency and scores 82.9 percent on Artificial Analysis’s speech to speech quality index. The expanded controls require the AMD Ryzen infotainment processor, fitted to refreshed models from 2021 onward; cars with the older Intel Atom based media computer do not get the feature, and no software update changes that.
