Windows 11 is testing a new AI-powered feature called "PC Insights" in Copilot, which allows it to understand system resource usage, including current CPU and RAM usage, and help identify the root cause of a problem. However, Copilot for Windows ships with a private copy of Microsoft Edge, is a full-blown web app, and uses up to 1GB of RAM while doing nothing. In tests, Windows Latest found references to this feature, which is slowly rolling out in the United States. Copilot’s optional PC Insights can read and interpret system resources including CPU, RAM, and GPU usage, calculate available storage space and total storage capacity, and determine if there is enough room to install more apps or games. It can also calculate folder and file sizes, including the size of Downloads and Documents folders, and access information about USB and connected devices, network information, battery health, antivirus status, system specifications, BIOS information, and overall device state. Copilot cannot read the contents of individual files unless given explicit access.
