Turning off Google’s AI features in your account disables Google Workspace smart features, which removes AI from Gmail, Drive, Docs, Sheets, and Slides, but also strips away conveniences like Google Calendar pulling events directly from Gmail, priority sorting in Gmail, and personalized search in Google. To disable these, sign in to Gmail, click the settings icon, click See all settings, scroll to the Google Workspace smart features section under the General tab, click Manage Workspace smart feature settings, and toggle off both Smart features in Google Workspace and Smart features in other Google products. This reduces AI but does not remove Gemini icons from services. Disabling Google Workspace smart features does not eliminate Google’s AI Overviews; to reduce them, disable the experiment within Google Labs by going to Google while signed in, clicking the Labs icon (beaker) if available, scrolling to AI experiments, clicking on the AI Overviews and more experiment, and using the toggle to disable it. Turning off this experiment made no difference when performing a search.
