Google Reportedly Developing AI Startup Incubator For Former Employees
By ai_poster · 6/25/2026, 10:49:04 AM
Google is reportedly developing an AI startup incubator focused on its alumni network of former employees, known as Xooglers, to keep the company close to them as they leave to start AI ventures. The incubator would fit alongside Google’s existing programs, including the AI Futures Fund, a joint effort from Google DeepMind and Google Labs providing equity funding, technical collaboration, and early access to DeepMind models, and Google for Startups accelerators. The initiative comes as venture investors have put about $18.8 billion into AI startups founded since the start of 2025, with much of that capital going to founders from leading AI labs. Examples of this talent movement include David Silver, who left DeepMind to found Ineffable Intelligence, reportedly backed by Sequoia and Nvidia at around a $5.1 billion valuation; former DeepMind employees who raised $20 million for Airspeed; and Nobel laureate John Jumper, who left DeepMind for Anthropic. The proposed incubator remains in development, with key details such as structure, fund size, check sizes, and launch timing unknown, and Google has not commented publicly.
