Emirati developer uses AI to cut Japanese-to-Arabic anime translation…

Emirati developer Mohammed Saeed Al-Ansari showcased a project at “Vandome Dubai 2026” that uses artificial intelligence to accelerate Japanese-to-Arabic translation of anime, films and series, saying the process once took days or even weeks and could take one to two weeks to complete an episode or film. According to Al-Ansari, the app can transcribe, translate and time Japanese dialogue to produce Arabic subtitles in less than 10 minutes. The process begins by adding an episode or film file to the app, after which AI separates the audio from the video, recognises the spoken Japanese words and translates them into Arabic, then times the translation from the beginning to the end of each sentence so subtitles appear in sync with the dialogue. Al-Ansari said the app can also recognise some text appearing within the video, such as an episode title, and translate it into Arabic, producing a complete subtitle file ready for use. He said the project does not rely on a single AI model but uses several models and services, including Whisper, Google services and open-source tools. Al-Ansari cited the old animated series “Junger” as an example, saying he worked with another person interested in the project to translate its episodes using the app.
