A social media post from BYD's Di Space experience center in Zhengzhou, which was accidentally published and quickly deleted, has revealed details about a humanoid AI robot project called "Xiao Di." The robot stands 5 ft and 3 inches tall, weighs 130 lbs, and has 31 degrees of freedom across its hands, legs, torso and neck. Its hands can grip objects weighing up to 2.2 pounds with an accuracy of 0.04 inches, and it features 360-degree vision, dynamic real-time 3D modeling, and a multimodal interaction system capable of real-time translation across six dialects and six foreign languages. BYD refers to the AI robot as female. Executive Vice President Stella Li previously said that each BYD dealership could eventually employ two or three humanoid robots as sales assistants. BYD plans to deploy Xiao Di in its own factories and hundreds of showrooms, and the prototype's rumored public debut in August could intensify competition with Tesla Optimus.
