The China International Supply Chain Expo, which kicked off on June 22, featured major US companies including Nvidia, Apple, Tesla, Micron Technology, and Qualcomm, with Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang addressing the event in a video message stating, “China is one of the world’s great centers of technology and industry.” The opening ceremony included a speech by vice premier Ding Xuexiang emphasizing international cooperation. More than 1,200 companies and organizations from 85 countries and regions joined the event, with foreign companies accounting for 36.5% of participants and US companies representing the largest share. The expo, launched in 2023 under the government-backed China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, aims to counter US decoupling and maintain supply chains including American companies. On the same day, the Chinese government added ten US companies to its export control list, banning Chinese exporters from exporting dual-use items to them and prohibiting foreign entities from providing such items originating in China to these entities. Chinese officials said the move responded to the US Department of Defense designating certain Chinese entities as “Chinese military companies.”
