James Pearse, the new chief technical officer of Intercity, attended the big Microsoft event to help Greater Birmingham Chamber members understand what MCAPS means for them. Microsoft hosted its annual MCAPS (Microsoft Customer and Partner Solutions) event last week, bringing together sales, technical and partner teams to share strategic priorities and areas of focus for FY27. The clearest takeaway is that organisations are moving beyond AI experimentation and focusing on how AI can deliver tangible business outcomes. Microsoft highlighted that 82 per cent of organisations expect to integrate AI agents into their operations within the next three years, with the number of AI agents forecast to grow significantly. The focus is shifting towards practical outcomes such as increasing employee productivity, reducing manual workloads, improving customer experiences, accelerating business growth, and making better use of organisational data. Trust, governance and security are becoming essential foundations for successful AI adoption, and strong data and cloud foundations remain critical to unlocking the full value of AI.
