Gemini indicated a "huge night-and-day difference" and attributed the issue to environmental microclimates and resource competition, explaining that one side’s growth is affected by its environment versus the other side, with much of the problem coming from the grass and weed population. The AI suggested getting rid of the competing grass and weeds using a weed whacker, laying a compostable material first, then adding fertilizer, and topping it off with mulch. The user then asked follow-up questions about the right compost, such as high-quality sheep or cow manure, what kind of mulch was needed, and whether yard waste bags could serve as the compostable layer. Gemini would push back on specific mulch choices and give reasons why one is better than another. The user also asked about using a ground fabric liner versus cardboard or yard waste bags.
