Tokayev: AI becoming key driver of government efficiency

Kazakhstan President Tokayev stated that artificial intelligence is becoming a decisive factor in improving the efficiency of public administration. He noted that two next-generation schools, TUMO and Tomorrow School, have been launched at the Alem.ai International Center, and that together with international partners including Telegram and Presight, Kazakhstan has established modern research laboratories. The Head of State signed a decree making AI a key element of secondary education modernization, introducing AI as a tool to support teachers and providing for personalized learning, stronger digital infrastructure, an improved regulatory framework, and the modernization of educational standards. Kazakhstan is launching a pilot project to narrow the education quality gap between urban and rural schools. AI expert Dr. Kai-Fu Lee conducted a seminar for senior government officials at the Alem.ai International Center in Astana, focusing on AI-driven operating models, AI agents, and the development of Kazakhstan's national AI technology stack. Tokayev also announced Kazakhstan is establishing the region's first specialized university dedicated to artificial intelligence.
