Tencent Cloud supported official live broadcasts of the recently concluded U.S.-Canada-Mexico World Cup in 17 countries and regions globally, covering two-thirds of officially authorized platforms in the Asia-Pacific region and mainland China. Li Yutao, Vice President of Tencent Cloud and Head of International Product Technology, revealed that this World Cup marked the first large-scale deployment of AI in live broadcast production, with most processes—including video quality enhancement, intelligent directing, automated editing, smart landscape-to-portrait conversion, and quality inspection and traceability—fully automated by AI. Li Yutao stated that Tencent Cloud aims to become the Harness in the multimodal domain, focusing on the entire industrial chain from model generation to stable delivery to end users. He observed a 'supply-demand gap' between models and user requirements, noting that single models can only address partial issues due to limitations from network transmission, video quality, user experience, and feature convergence. He explained that Tencent Cloud, as an audio-video PaaS provider, must handle underlying infrastructure so clients can focus on business innovation and upper-layer applications.
