The Delhi High Court has directed the immediate removal of online content, including AI-generated and defamatory posts, that allegedly misuse the personality rights of Indian cricketer Abhishek Sharma. Justice Jyoti Singh observed that the identified content must be taken down and restrained from further circulation, and issued summons and notices to named individuals and entities. The matter is scheduled for its next hearing on November 17. Sharma approached the High Court seeking legal protection for his personality rights, citing multiple social media posts and commercial listings that portray him in a false, misleading, and defamatory manner. Advocate Gaurav Bahl submitted that an AI-generated post falsely depicted the cricketer alongside his manager, misidentifying her as his girlfriend, and that several remaining active links contain profane and obscene material. The plea also highlighted unauthorized product listings using Sharma’s identity on Amazon and Flipkart. Advocate Bahl informed the bench that a significant number of disputed URLs have already been removed. Representing Meta Platforms, advocate Varun Pathak confirmed only two disputed URLs currently remain active across the company's network and assured the bench these remaining Instagram links would be taken down expeditiously.
