A novel class action in California, originally filed in March, accuses xAI of enabling the production of deepfake pornography featuring minors on its generative AI platform, Grok. An amended complaint brings the total number of anonymous plaintiffs to five and adds Stability AI, the creator of a text-to-image generator, as a co-defendant. The amended complaint also claims that xAI failed to report the production of sexually explicit material featuring minors on its platform to the appropriate authorities as required by federal law. The case is the first to target the sexual exploitation of minors on an AI large language model.
