Samsung SDS has been selected as a GPU supplier for the government's 2026 AI Research Computing Support Project and began providing the service on the 20th of last month, the company said on the 11th. The project, led by the Ministry of Science and ICT and the Institute of Information & Communications Technology Planning & Evaluation, provides GPU resources for AI research to researchers at domestic universities and research institutions. The goal is to supply computing resources so that universities, government-funded research institutes and other bodies that find it difficult to build large-scale computing infrastructure on their own can carry out work such as large language model research. The project is worth 15.3 billion won ($11 million) and runs from July this year through March next year. Samsung SDS was chosen as the top-ranked provider among several companies awarded contracts. For the program, Samsung SDS will supply not only Nvidia's H100 GPUs but also clusters of the latest B300 GPUs, which offer significantly improved performance and larger memory capacity than the previous generation for training and inference of large-parameter models. The company will also provide large-scale clustering configurations that combine multiple GPUs into a single resource pool, along with a high-speed interconnect network. "Through this project, we will provide a stable service so that domestic researchers can achieve innovative results based on world-class AI infrastructure," said Lee Ho-jun, executive vice president of Samsung SDS's Cloud Services Business Division.
