Synopsys (NASDAQ:SNPS) unveiled autonomous agentic AI workflows built with Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT) and being evaluated by AMD (NASDAQ:AMD) on July 27, aimed at cutting the time to turn a chip specification into working silicon. The two workflows, introduced at the DAC Chips to Systems Conference and available on Microsoft Discovery, target debug closure and implementation on Synopsys' Fusion Compiler on Azure. Early evaluations show a 25% to 40% reduction in debug cycle time, and AMD is actively evaluating them for next-generation products. Synopsys counts Nvidia (NASDAQ:NVDA) as both a customer and investor after Nvidia expanded its partnership with a $2 billion investment. Fiscal 2026 second quarter revenue grew 42% year-over-year, prompting raised full-year guidance. However, Synopsys shares had fallen 12% year to date as of July 16. The company paid $35 billion for Ansys, and resulting amortization costs have kept margins tight. Stock-based compensation made up roughly 58.8% of Synopsys' operating cash flow in fiscal 2025, with reported free cash flow of about $1.3 billion for the year. Synopsys is also managing multiple class action lawsuits alleging misstatements about its intellectual property segment, and a settlement with Elliott Investment Management could push strategic changes.
