Glovo has launched its “Shopping Assistant” for ChatGPT and Claude, integrating into the generative AI ecosystem. The platform introduces a conversational commerce model, shifting users from a search-based web to an intent-based web navigation model. Users can discover retail products, compare prices, and order items using natural conversational language, with the assistant handling semantic search, location validation, and product curation. Chief Technology Officer Shiro Theuri said the startup prioritises user convenience, adding, “We’re always looking for ways to meet our customers where they already are.” Once a user connects their Glovo app to either ChatGPT or Claude, they can have a multi-turn dialogue where the assistant remembers context and constraints, such as budget caps. Users receive a visual carousel of up to five highly customised product options available at local stores, each displaying its image, name, store details, ratings, and price. Selecting a product via the “view on Glovo” button takes the user to the Glovo mobile or web app, where payment and final purchase are completed exclusively. To use the feature, users must sync ChatGPT or Claude with the Glovo app via the plug-in and type in @glovo followed by their request. Glovo wants to gain a first-mover advantage amid a global surge in retail traffic driven by generative AI.
