Internal Google Document Reveals That Its HR AI Has Been Throwing Rés…

An internal Google document viewed by Bloomberg reveals that Google DeepMind’s AGI Safety and Alignment Team has created a special AI-proof form for job-seekers to fill out on top of their standard application so that a “real human” will know they applied. The memo, which includes the disclaimer “PLEASE DO NOT SHARE THIS DOC WIDELY,” admits that the lab’s AI-integrated hiring software has been screening out qualified candidates’ CVs incorrectly. The document states, “We have an applications system with a non-trivial probability your CV will be screened out incorrectly or take too long to reach us,” and adds that filling out the form ensures a real human on the team will see the application. Despite this, a spokesperson for Google’s DeepMind project insisted to Bloomberg that the company’s AI hiring software is working fine, saying, “This team set up a special form to go past the recruiter review, and get their resumes direct to the people on the team. But there are no shortcuts to getting hired.” The admission is notable for a Google division, particularly its flagship AI research hub, and highlights broader concerns about AI’s impact on the digital hiring ecosystem.
