SOCAR reported a sharp increase in second-quarter operating profit, driven by rising car-sharing use and growth in its parking platform business. On a consolidation basis, the company posted second-quarter revenue of 121 billion won and operating profit of 6.8 billion won, up 23% and 271%, respectively, from a year earlier, marking the eighth straight quarter in the black. Net profit was 6.5 billion won, swinging from a net loss of 1.8 billion won a year earlier. Car-sharing usage time reached 13.21 million hours, up 9.3%, helped by a free pricing policy for EV driving and a freeze on driving fees for internal combustion engine vehicles. The premium service "Black Label," launched in February, saw its vehicle count increase about tenfold from the initial pilot, with revenue per vehicle 61% higher and gross profit per vehicle 103% higher than existing car-sharing vehicles. Parking platform "Modu Parking" revenue was 3.3 billion won, up 24%, with quarterly transaction value rising 27% to top 20 billion won for the first time. Starting in the second half, SOCAR will ramp up its "SOCAR The NEXT" strategy, using AI to cut overhead by 15%, strengthen full-stack mobility, and pursue Autonomous Driving through affiliate Apex Mobility, planning real-world operations as early as this year. The company is also conducting additional share buybacks for full cancellation.
