Elon Musk denied a Wall Street Journal report claiming SpaceX had shown investors a working prototype of an AI-focused handset ahead of its IPO, calling it “Utterly false” in a single post on X. The WSJ report described the prototype as sleeker and slimmer than an iPhone, designed to run on a proprietary operating system, integrate AI technology from xAI (which SpaceX acquired earlier this year), and use Qualcomm Snapdragon chips. SpaceX and Qualcomm did not respond to requests for comment beyond Musk’s denial. The WSJ noted SpaceX told investors the project was still in early stages with no certainty the device would ever be built. Separately, Reuters reported in February that SpaceX had plans to develop a mobile device connected to its Starlink satellite internet constellation, and Musk said in January that a Starlink phone was “not out of the question at some point.”
