Cameroon Telecommunications (Camtel) and Amazon Web Services (AWS) are exploring potential collaboration in cloud computing, artificial intelligence, and satellite technologies. An AWS delegation for Africa, including Raya Nassar and Terrence Naidoo, recently met with Camtel Chief Executive Officer Judith Yah Sunday, with the meeting also attended by Antoinette Manyaga, information and communications technology representative at the U.S. Embassy in Cameroon. The discussions focused on satellite technologies, cloud services, and artificial intelligence, exploring areas of cooperation that could support Cameroon's digital transformation. However, no agreement has been signed, and neither company has announced an investment, implementation timetable, or commercial partnership, with talks remaining exploratory. Camtel, Cameroon’s state-owned telecommunications operator, aims to become a leading digital services provider in sub-Saharan Africa by 2030. In April 2026, Camtel hosted a delegation from Avanti Communications to explore cooperation on satellite connectivity solutions, and in December 2025, it signed a three-year framework agreement with Ethio Telecom covering mobile payments, digital government services, government cloud infrastructure, and network modernization.
