Upstart has secured a $4 billion forward flow agreement with Castlelake to purchase consumer loans over the next 24 months, leveraging Upstart's AI lending marketplace to provide Castlelake with high-quality credit assets. The $4 billion commitment over a 24-month period is the largest program to date between Upstart and Castlelake, building on a relationship established in 2023. Sanjay Datta, President, Capital & Enterprise at Upstart, stated that the expanded commitment reflects the value of long-term collaboration and reinforces the strength of Upstart’s underwriting capabilities. John Lundquist, Partner, Specialty Finance at Castlelake, said the new commitment reflects continued belief in the durability of Upstart consumer installment loans as attractive risk-adjusted exposure. Currently, more than 90% of loans on the platform are fully automated, and Castlelake has invested over $29 billion in similar credit opportunities since 2015. The partnership ensures Upstart’s AI lending marketplace remains liquid, supporting the 100+ banks and credit unions that rely on its technology.
