Shenzhen is accelerating medical robotics adoption by linking hospitals, policy incentives, and tech firms into a closed-loop ecosystem, aiming to become a global hub for medical robotics. The city integrates robotics into hospital and care routines to address structural healthcare challenges. Longgang District acts as a policy incubator and demonstration hub, where supply-demand matchmaking, scenario pilots, and financial incentives converge. On 31 July, city and district authorities held a session on healthcare robots, the sixth in a series of matchmaking events across ten priority sectors. The initiative builds on Shenzhen’s published list of “robotics+” application cases, spanning more than 40 companies. Zhao Bingbing, director of Longgang District’s robotics bureau, outlined support measures, including scenario-based “leaderboard” competitions awarding up to RMB 2 million (USD 296,000) to demand-side institutions and RMB 3 million (USD 440,000) to technology providers. A RMB 100 million (USD 14.8 million) “robotics voucher” program subsidizes equipment purchases and rentals. Longgang also hosts a “Human-Machine Salon” and biweekly supply-demand chain meetings linking players across the Greater Bay Area. The gathering, organized by the Shenzhen Municipal Bureau of Industry and Information Technology and the Longgang District Artificial Intelligence (Robotics) Bureau, and hosted by the Shenzhen Robotics Association, brought together more than 160 representatives from hospitals, rehabilitation centers, and government agencies.
