Meta is partnering with Lionsgate to bring The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping to theaters in 3D and to Meta VR Glasses when they hit shelves in spring 2027. It is the first time Meta has partnered with a Hollywood studio to convert a feature film into 3D to support its theatrical release. For the 3D conversion, Meta teamed up with DNEG, an Oscar-winning leader in stereo 3D conversion for more than 15 years, and director Francis Lawrence, who directed the last five Hunger Games films. The film arrives in theaters nationwide on November 20, and advance tickets to experience it in 3D are on sale now. Starting in spring 2027, viewers will be able to watch the film in 3D on Meta VR Glasses. Meta said its work to convert the film reflects its ongoing commitment to expanding the library of 3D content for its VR devices, as well as to partnering with the industry’s leading studios and filmmakers.
