FCC should adopt AI to strengthen fairness, transparency, says DBI
By ai_poster · 7/14/2026, 1:02:59 AM
The President and Chief Executive Officer of the Digital Bridge Institute (DBI), David Daser, urged the Federal Character Commission (FCC) to adopt Artificial Intelligence (AI), digital technology and data-driven systems to enhance fairness, transparency and objectivity in public sector recruitment and compliance. Daser made the call while presenting a paper at the FCC’s 2026 Executive and Management Leadership Retreat held in Ekiti State. He described the Federal Character Principle as a cornerstone of Nigeria’s unity and stability, stating that technology and data, combined with sound human judgment, can help the Commission see more clearly and demonstrate its fairness more transparently. Daser proposed a strategic partnership between the FCC and DBI to develop digital platforms, enhance national data capabilities, build workforce capacity and provide technical advisory services. He also recommended adoption of a comprehensive data governance and privacy policy in line with the Nigeria Data Protection Act, deployment of a standardised digital template for recruitment and compliance reporting across Ministries, Departments and Agencies, introduction of a representation dashboard, and integration of recruitment, compliance monitoring and records management into a unified digital platform.
