The Dynamics 365 Customer Experience MCP Server for Service is now generally available, building on a public preview released last winter. This offering makes the service MCP tools and MCP apps used by Service Agent in Microsoft 365 Copilot available as an independent product, allowing organizations to connect to a growing ecosystem of MCP-compatible AI clients. The server implements the Model Context Protocol (MCP), an emerging open standard for connecting AI applications to enterprise tools and data, enabling organizations to make Customer Service capabilities available to compatible clients without developing separate integrations for each AI experience. Connections are managed through the Microsoft-hosted Agent 365 Tooling Gateway, which handles authentication to Dataverse environments, and access aligns with existing Dataverse roles and permissions. The server works with hosts including Microsoft 365 Copilot, with Service Agent generally available on June 30th, Microsoft Copilot Studio agents, Visual Studio Code and GitHub Copilot CLI, and other MCP-compatible clients supporting HTTP-based connections, such as ChatGPT and Claude Code. At general availability, the server ships with more than 90 service-oriented tools covering case management, customer context, and knowledge capabilities, including listing, opening, summarizing, updating, reassigning, and resolving cases, pulling account and contact details, and searching knowledge articles.
