OpenAI announced ChatGPT Business Premium seats on Monday, a new offering for Business-tier customers seeking higher usage limits. Premium seats, which can be combined with standard Business seats, provide five times more usage than Standard seats and are exempt from the five-hour-per-day usage limit on advanced features. Standard Business tier seats are $25 a month if paid per month, or $20 per month if billed annually, while Premium Business seats are $125/month or $100 if billed annually. Larger organizations have a separate Enterprise tier with its own pricing. Usage limits vary by model and task; GPT 5.5 Instant use is “virtually unlimited” for Business seats, while GPT 5.5 Thinking and Pro are limited to 3,000 requests per week and 15 requests per month, respectively, with Premium seats getting 5x that limit. Premium seats will also use ChatGPT credits. As part of the launch, OpenAI is offering $100 in workspace service credits for each qualifying Premium seat added to a Business workspace, up to 5 seats, for the first 10,000 customers to sign up for the Premium waitlist. The move comes as frontier AI labs face pressure over prices and increased competition from Chinese open-weight models, which are becoming similarly capable and could offer a cheaper alternative for heavy AI consumption.
