The complaint claims the AI chatbot fostered an increasingly unhealthy relationship with Christian Faith Madison, ultimately reinforcing delusional beliefs that preceded her suicide. The lawsuit, made public on Thursday, alleges that flaws in the ChatGPT-4o system played a direct role in Madison's deteriorating mental state. According to the lawsuit, Madison spent months interacting with ChatGPT before her death in June 2025, during which the chatbot allegedly encouraged emotional dependence and validated delusional beliefs. OpenAI has not been found liable, and the allegations are part of an ongoing legal case.
