Palantir reported $1.9 billion in total revenue for the last quarter, a 93% jump year over year, alongside $1.1 billion in profit. CEO Alex Karp highlighted the profit comparison in his shareholder letter, which he also used to accuse AI labs of Marxism, stating, "There are Marxist overtones and undertones to our business." He claimed that those building large language models intend "to capture the means of production of their purported partners." On Monday’s earnings call, Karp said companies must decide whether to "buy into a future" where their work helps adversaries win, and criticized enterprise users for signing up for "token self-pleasurings" that allow labs to migrate their IP and build competitive businesses. He argued that underneath the rhetoric is a proposition that handing a frontier lab proprietary workflows means bankrolling a rival that will sell your capability into your market, a point also made by Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella.
