Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella is set to attend a state dinner hosted by U.S. President Donald Trump at the White House on September 24 (local time) to welcome Chinese President Xi Jinping, Bloomberg reported on September 21, citing sources. The lineup of big tech chiefs attending also includes Apple Executive Chairman Tim Cook, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, and Qualcomm CEO Cristiano Amon. The U.S.-China summit is drawing attention as prominent figures from tech companies gather at a time when debates over the control of artificial intelligence (AI) technology are intensifying. Previously, Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei warned of risks, including large-scale cyberattacks, and argued that the AI industry as a whole should slow down development, leading to clashes of opinion among CEOs. The Trump administration has maintained a stance against excessive AI regulation or slowing down development speed, expressing concern that it could hand the lead over to China. China has also criticized Amodei's remarks, describing them as "fear-mongering."
