Mentat, an AI startup founded in September 2025, has developed Nexus, a corporate AX platform that integrates organizational knowledge with AI to provide employees with precise answers for regulated industries. The company has secured 1.1 billion won in seed funding and acquired clients including the law firm Bae, Kim & Lee. CEO Jusoo Kim, a founding member of HonestAI, recognized the need for AI tailored to legal work while preparing litigation materials, leading him to establish Mentat as a spin-off. On August 3, Kim explained that an AI agent capable of extracting facts from thousands of pages of texts without missing details could impact the legal market. Mentat AI, the initial pilot project, assists with document drafting by analyzing large volumes of case data in less than 90 seconds. The service is available to any lawyer, with the official version scheduled for release this month. Nexus specializes Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) technology to meet legal and regulatory requirements, connecting a knowledge graph of laws, interpretations, and precedents with corporate data. Kim noted that in regulated industries, business is impossible without the law, and the platform enables intranet search functions across legal, case law, and internal company data, providing precise and personalized answers similar to a customized version of ChatGPT.
