Amalgamated Electricity Company Ltd has announced a strategic transformation, moving from traditional power operations into Artificial Intelligence, Information Technology, Healthcare, Automotive, and Media. This pivot is supported by a proposed ₹650 crore preferential issue and a substantial increase in authorized capital from ₹2.25 crore to ₹2,000 crore. The company's Board approved amending the main object clause to encompass new ventures including AI, technology, healthcare, automotive, and media. The ₹650 crore capital infusion via a preferential issue to six identified non-promoter entities aims to fund these ventures. The company appointed two new directors, Somesh Yag Ratanchand Kapai and Jay Nareshbhai Tillani, and will shift its registered office from Mumbai to New Delhi. Risks include execution challenges from entering multiple complex sectors and dilution for existing shareholders from the issuance of 130 crore new equity shares at ₹5 per share.
