Anthropic's valuation on some trading platforms has reached $1 trillion, eclipsing OpenAI's market capitalization by over $100 billion, driven by buyers scooping up shares on secondary markets. Hype around Anthropic's latest model, Claude Mythos, may have contributed to the spike, though the company has warned the tech is too dangerous to be released widely. Anthropic's revenue grew from $9 billion at the end of 2025 to over $30 billion by the end of March, credited to widespread adoption of its Claude services. CEO Dario Amodei's public feud with the Trump administration, which blacklisted the company from working with the Pentagon, appears to have had little effect on traders. Meanwhile, demand for OpenAI shares is flagging; institutional investors seeking to sell $600 million of the company's shares couldn't find buyers as of the end of March, even as OpenAI drew $122 billion in its biggest-ever fundraising round. Private stock marketplace Hiive reported that Anthropic's share price surged 211% to roughly $900 over the past three months, while OpenAI shares rose 8.5% to $608. Hiive's data points to a $1 trillion valuation for Anthropic, while OpenAI's share price remains in line with its $852 billion valuation from its most recent funding round.
