Grokipedia, representing Elon Musk's commitment to countering Wikipedia's supposedly leftist bias, stopped reviewing edits in April. Lawfare Media reports that "as far as we can tell, no entry has changed in more than three months," making it "a case study in how an AI-generated reference system governs its own content." Its entries are drafted and maintained by a large language model that decides what to write and when to edit itself. The encyclopedia stopped editing itself and processing suggested edits from humans, with no entries updated since April 24. On ChatGPT's entry, 12 edits submitted on April 24 were approved the same day, while every edit submitted afterward in May, June, and July remains "in review." The pattern holds across topics and traffic levels, with both the largest political entries and a second-division football club stalled. Wikipedia, by contrast, is updated about a quarter of a million times a day. One possibility is that a publicly searchable dated audit of everything SpaceX/xAI is scraping online became problematic, so it may be redone from scratch.
