Rishabh Agrawal, an IIT Bombay graduate and AI entrepreneur, clarified in a pinned post on X that the offer he rejected from Meta was higher than what was reported, which was reportedly over ₹9.5 crore. He stated, “I rejected it because I wanted to build something of my own.” Agrawal noted that his last week at @AIatMeta was a tough decision, especially given the talent and compute density of the new Superintelligence TBD lab, but after 7.5 years across Google Brain, DeepMind, and Meta, he felt the pull to take a different risk. He chose to follow Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s advice: “In a world that’s changing so fast, the biggest risk you can take is not taking any risk.” Now fully committed to his AI startup, Agrawal said the venture better aligns with his long-term goals. According to his LinkedIn profile, he is a graduate of Indian Institute of Technology Bombay in Computer Science and Engineering after securing a JEE All India Rank of 33, and later completed a PhD in Artificial Intelligence. His career began with a 2016 internship at JioSaavn, a 2017 internship at Tower Research Capital, and from June 2018 to May 2023 he worked at Google Brain as a Senior Research Scientist before moving to Meta.
