Jensen Huang stated that Wall Street and Washington have misjudged the impact of Moonshot AI's open-source large model Kimi K3, released recently, reigniting concerns in the U.S. market about the AI competitive landscape. Huang said, “The market misunderstood the impact of DeepSeek the first time, and now it’s misunderstanding the impact of Kimi again.” He argued that cheaper and more open AI models will enable more businesses and individuals to adopt AI, driving greater demand for chips, data centers, and computing power, ultimately benefiting infrastructure providers like NVIDIA. Huang added, “Free AI should be good for hardware, good for chips, and good for data centers.” He further argued that openness enhances security, as researchers worldwide can inspect the model, identify vulnerabilities, and patch them promptly, stating, “If everyone in the future is limited to using just one model, then the entire world would have only a single attack surface and a single point of failure—I believe that would be far more dangerous.”
