Nexus Mods announced it is making AI disclosure mandatory for all new mod uploads, requiring creators to declare whether artificial intelligence played any role in their work. Site owner Victor "Foledinho" Folmann wrote that "one of the most consistent concerns we've heard is that it's not clearly disclosed when AI has been used to create a mod." The platform already offered AI-generated and AI-assisted tags, but they were voluntary; now, before publishing, creators will face a mandatory declaration form asking whether machine learning algorithms helped generate textures, write dialogue, produce code, or contribute to any other aspect of their mod. Nexus Mods hosts over 500,000 mods across hundreds of games. The disclosure requirement aims to give users informed choice without banning AI outright.
