OpenAI announced on Monday that its chatbot ChatGPT now supports Yelp reservations and waitlists, allowing users in the U.S. and Canada to book a restaurant table directly while chatting. According to Yelp's blog post, the integration covers restaurants using Yelp Guest Manager, and any changes to a reservation must be made through the Yelp app, not the chat. This extends a Yelp partnership with ChatGPT launched in July, which lets the chatbot use Yelp reviews, ratings, photos, and local business details for recommendations. Competitors offer similar integrations: Google's Gemini can find, book, and manage reservations on OpenTable via Reserve with Google, while Microsoft Copilot can book tables using OpenTable but cannot manage or cancel reservations through the chatbot.
