Microsoft has reaffirmed that its AI tool Copilot is for "entertainment purposes only" and should not be relied upon for work, stating in its terms: "It can make mistakes, and it may not work as intended. Don’t rely on Copilot for important advice. Use Copilot at your own risk." The company has shifted responsibility onto users, clearing Microsoft of accusations of false information amid concerns about AI hallucination, copyrighted content, and output legitimacy. Microsoft added that users "agree to indemnify us and hold us harmless... from and against any claims, losses, and expenses... arising from or relating to your use of Copilot." While prompts and responses may be used to improve Copilot, enterprise versions have additional protections for sensitive information. Microsoft is not alone in this approach, as OpenAI, Google, and Anthropic all state similar advisories in their terms, including user responsibility and no guarantee of accuracy.
