On June 28, 2026, a free, open-source AEO tool called 'Elmo' was released to help companies and website operators check whether their brand appears as a suggestion in AI responses. Elmo records responses from ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity, Gemini, Copilot, Grok, and more, and allows users to check the source of citations and the appearance of competitors. Its features include a Dashboard showing an overview of AI responses, metrics such as 'AI Visibility' and 'Share of Voice,' a graph of trends over the past 30 days, the number of prompts being tracked, the number of evaluations, the execution frequency, and the last update time. The Visibility feature displays a graph of brand and competitor appearance for each registered prompt over the past 30 days, with overall and individual AI service statistics. Share of Voice shows how often a brand is mentioned compared to competitors. Query Fan-Out displays statistics of searches the AI performed in response to prompts, including 'Top Queries' sorted by frequency and 'Query Words' for content insights. Citations provides statistics on cited information sources, with 'Citation Categories' categorizing source sites into types such as articles, competitors, social media, developers (like GitHub), research institutions, and the user's own brand.
