Nvidia Corp. is gaining traction in Japan amid growing AI demand, announcing on Wednesday that leading Japanese enterprises, startups and research institutions are building industry-specialized AI models and applications with its Nemotron open models to speed up the development of AI tailored to the Japanese language and local industries. Mitsubishi Heavy Industries also announced it is expanding its collaboration with Nvidia to support the buildout of next-generation AI factories and high-density data centers, developing cooling and power infrastructure technologies for Nvidia DSX, including modular cooling systems and 800VDC architecture. Nvidia also announced late Wednesday that it is broadening its long-standing partnership with Toyota Motor Corp. to deploy AI technologies across smart cities, traffic management systems, and manufacturing facilities. The news comes as the U.S. has restricted access to Nvidia's technology in China, banning export of Nvidia's top-tier H200 chips and the RTX 5090D V2, though the U.S. permits shipment of some less advanced models such as Blackwell chips.
