Elon Musk made three bold predictions for SpaceX during the company’s first-ever earnings call on Tuesday, despite a recent New York Times analysis of 600 Musk predictions dating back 15 years finding that only about 19% came to fruition. On the call, SpaceX posted a 92% year-over-year revenue growth of $7.8 billion, offset by $18.4 billion in capital expenditures—a 557% increase over 2025. SpaceX stock, which once peaked at $225, dropped more than 8% Tuesday evening and was down 12% by Wednesday afternoon to $109 a share. Musk predicted SpaceX would deliver $1 trillion in revenue by 2030, revising an earlier projection of 2031, with a “non-zero chance” of 2029. This exceeds Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley forecasts of $470 billion and $330 billion for 2030, respectively. He also predicted Starlink will provide the majority of the world’s internet in less than a decade, noting the world has around six billion internet users and Starlink’s current subscriber base of 12 million. The company’s capital expenditures came in at 40% higher than expected, while Anthropic sends SpaceX a monthly check for $1.25 billion for AI computing power, and Musk said they are “rapidly expanding our compute capacity.”
