ChipAgents is partnering with Nvidia to create an agentic AI platform to accelerate chip design, according to a Forbes article. The piece notes that Cadence Design SuperAgents can speed elements of the design workflow by up to 10X, per the company. Three EDA AI startups—Agentrys, ChipAgents, and Cognichip—disclosed details about funding and software at the Design Automation Conference (DAC) event. The startups aim to automate multi-step engineering tasks across RTL generation, verification, debugging, and design orchestration, with two of the three offering custom AI models. ChipAgents says over 60% of engineering time is spent in RTL design and Verification. Agentrys is building Agentic Design Automation, a platform centered on self-improving agents and agent-native toolchains. Cognichip is taking a model-first approach with its physics-informed Artificial Chip Intelligence platform. ChipAgents has evolved into a vertically integrated platform with workflow automation and its own fine-tuned foundation model, Renoir, claiming over 120 customers, including household names. The article frames agentic AI for chip design as an emerging layer on top of traditional EDA, with verification a major bottleneck due to 3D ICs, chiplet-based architectures, and software-defined systems.
