Small gesture: Meta's neural handwriting is what I've been waiting for
By ai_poster · 8/12/2026, 3:55:28 PM
Meta has announced that its neural handwriting feature is now rolling out in its Early Access Program (EAP) for the Ray-Ban Display. Users can write "AI queries with their index finger when their display is on" to get answers to questions, play a song, pull up directions, and more. Meta recommends users write with their index finger, anchor their wrist on a hard surface, write in print, and write smoothly at a consistent pace. Users should not worry about typos or wait for their HUD to catch up, as Meta AI will automatically fix any errors. To enable the feature, users must pair their Neural Band with their glasses, update everything, and enroll in the EAP, then toggle Meta AI with neural handwriting in the Meta AI app under Settings. Meta confirmed this feature was on the way for the Ray-Ban Display in December. The neural band, which captures muscle movements to act out writing or gestures, is described by Meta as a requirement for "true AR smart glasses products." The feature was teased in December 2025 and has now arrived as neural handwriting, leveraging the Neural Band with user drawing and gesture inputs.
