Google DeepMind announced it will launch Gemini 3.5 Pro on July 17, 2026, abandoning the existing Gemini 2.5 Pro architecture for a ground-up redesign. The new model introduces a 2 million token context window and a Deep Think Reasoning Layer for complex problem-solving. It features autonomous workflow capabilities, allowing it to break down complex tasks into subtasks and execute them with minimal intervention. The launch date puts Gemini 3.5 Pro in direct competition with OpenAI’s GPT-5.6. Google’s Workspace integration—connecting Gmail, Docs, Calendar, Sheets, and Meet—gives the model a distribution advantage. Google has already crossed 900 million monthly Gemini users across 230 countries and more than 70 languages, and Gemini 3.5 Pro will be available across these touchpoints.
