According to a Bloomberg report by Mark Gurman citing sources, Apple plans to launch a smart home hub device powered by a new Siri AI assistant, targeting Amazon's Echo Show and Google's Nest Hub. The device is expected to be officially released between October this year and early next year. It will feature an approximately 7-inch square screen, be wall-mountable or desktop-placed, and run a custom operating system blending elements from tvOS, watchOS, and iOS. The hub's camera includes facial recognition and spatial awareness, identifying users and measuring distance to automatically adjust text size, interface layout, and present personalized content. It can handle FaceTime video calls, function as a home intercom, monitor security, and control smart home hardware. Apple is also preparing a new Apple TV set-top box and an upgraded HomePod mini for release this fall. Bloomberg indicates these first-generation Siri AI products are precursors to at least two more futuristic devices, including a premium hub with a robotic arm that allows the display to rotate.
